Insect Collection (16:370:605)

Description

All students in the entomology graduate program are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the curation, labeling, and identifications of insects. Students must create an insect collection that meets the minimum of 4,000 points to receive credit.

Credits are received for the following

  1. 100 points per Order
  2. 10 points per Family
  3. 1 point per individual specimen (100 total points possible)
  4. Bonus points: 10 bonus points can be received for the correct identification of specimens down to the genus species level.

Students can register for the insect collection course any time during their program of study, however, collections must be submitted for grading during the semester the student is registered for the course.
